Join us for a free online gathering, in partnership with the IncludeAge project, the Queer Heritage South project, and The Curious Club (Outings in Art).
The forum will be a panel session with Dr Richard Vytniorgu and LGBTQ+ co-researchers from the IncludeAge project, in conversation with representatives from the Queer Heritage South project and The Curious Club.
About IncludeAge: IncludeAge (2022-26) is a £1.4m ESRC-funded project led by the University of Dundee, which seeks to explore how mid-older LGBT+ people and / or people with learning disabilities in Britain experience inclusion and exclusion in physical places and online spaces, over their lives. The project is participatory, and includes 4 LGBT+ co-researchers who bring their lived experience and professional expertise to enhance the project’s activities.
About Queer Heritage South: Queer Heritage South/Queer in Brighton is a digital community archiving project, celebrating and promoting the rich cultural life of LGBTQIA+ people in Brighton & Hove.
About The Curious Club: The Curious Club is a group for people who identify as LGBTQI+ who love to learn. Every month, the club meets to explore Camden to discover new things and meet new people.
This forum discussion is for arts and wellbeing providers, and LGBTQ+ organisations, groups and projects, who want to:
- Explore how LGBTQ+ history can be used to facilitate and enrich intergenerational practice among LGBTQ+ people
- Discuss the pros and cons of basing intergenerational practice around LGBTQ+ history
- Learn tips and advice for including historical themes when engaging with LGBTQ+ population groups
- Find out more about existing LGBTQ+ projects that involve queer histories
Supporting people to participate:
We recognise it can sometimes be hard to attend events if you’re self employed or work part time, if you are a volunteer for a project or are the only person working in a community organisation, so we are offering a limited amount of financial support to ensure everyone who wants to attend is able to. For this event we can offer a £50 bursary to five participants. Unfortunately funds are limited so we can’t support everyone, and will be allocating on a first come first served basis once the criteria is met. When you register for the workshop you will have the option to apply for one of the bursary places. On review we will be in touch with those who have been successful in receiving the financial support.
Join us to share ideas, refine your intergenerational practices and meet other progressive people who are striving to innovate and excel in services for older and younger people.
