Join us for a free online gathering in partnership with LGBT Consortium, to discuss how arts and wellbeing organisations can include, support, and be in solidarity with Older LGBTQ+ people.
This discussion will bring together organisations across the arts and wellbeing sector, and organisations working with Older LGBTQ+ people. We’ll share and learn about the discrimination, barriers, and challenges that older LGBTQ+ people face. We’ll discuss how arts, creativity, and wellbeing interventions can acknowledge LGBTQ+ legacies of activism and organising, campaign and fight for better lives.
It’s an opportunity for arts and wellbeing organisations and practitioners to be in solidarity with Older LGBTQ+ people, and for Older LGBTQ+ people and groups to speak about your priorities, what you do, and what you would like to see.
Come along if you:
- want to improve your awareness and inclusion of Older LGBTQ+ people
- want to share your experience as an Older LGBTQ+ person, or as an organisation that supports them
- want to discuss ideas for how services and activities can go beyond simply being safe and free from discrimination for Older LGBTQ+ people, and fight for better lives and futures in solidarity with older LGBTQ+ people.
About LGBT Consortium:
Consortium is the national infrastructure charity for LGBT+ organisations. As part of our London work, we convene the Older LGBTQ+ Londoners’ roundtable. The roundtable brings together organisations and groups by and/or for Older LGBTQ+ people in London. They discuss their work, find gaps in provision, share insights and research, and work together to raise awareness and fight against discrimination and isolation. Members range from unfunded and volunteer led groups, to projects delivered by broader organisations, as well as researchers and people in health and care.
Supporting people to participate:
We recognise it can sometimes be hard to attend events if you’re self employed or work part time, if you are a volunteer for a project or are the only person working in a community organisation, so we are offering a limited amount of financial support to ensure everyone who wants to attend is able to. For this event we can offer a £50 bursary to five participants. Unfortunately funds are limited so we can’t support everyone, and will be allocating on a first come first served basis once the criteria is met. When you register for the workshop you will have the option to apply for one of the bursary places. On review we will be in touch with those who have been successful in receiving the financial support.
