Join us for a free online gathering, in partnership with Magic Me. The Intergenerational Forum is an informal space for arts & wellbeing providers to meet and share ideas around developing intergenerational practice in their services.
Learn about the recent successes and challenges of creative projects run by intergenerational arts company, Magic Me. Discuss the intergenerational participant connections that lead to mutual exchanges and development (“in the room”), and examine the barriers to building a project facilitating equal contribution of the community and the arts organisation (“out the room”).
Magic Me has been working in Tower Hamlets for over 30 years. The charity brings older and younger people together with creative projects that strengthen the community through friendship and joy, fostering understanding and breaking down barriers. Projects are led by artists across a range of art forms from visual arts to performance and beyond.
The session will be co-led by Audrey Aidoo-Davies and Priyanka Chauhan, Magic Me’s Project Managers. Expect stimulating conversation, as they create a space allowing us all to learn from each other about how we can build more creative collaboration in our work.
About the Intergenerational Forum:
This forum is an informal space for peer sharing and learning. We meet three times a year and anyone who is interested in developing their intergenerational practice is very welcome to join!
This forum is for arts and wellbeing providers who want to:
- reflect on learnings from intergenerational projects
- celebrate the successes
- discuss the challenges
- meet other people interested in sharing & developing intergenerational practice in their work
- and discuss ideas for how we can create more opportunities for intergenerational connections going forward.
Join us to share ideas, refine your intergenerational practices and meet other progressive people who are striving to innovate and excel in services for older and younger people.
About Magic Me
In an increasingly polarised world, Magic Me’s mission is to inspire change – for individuals, communities and systems – through extraordinary art, sparking magic between generations.
Working with the oldest and youngest generations, our creative projects reflect the changing demography of London and the country, linking people different in age and diverse in ethnicity, culture and faith.
We use the arts to stimulate dialogue and exchange ideas across generations. Often linking unlikely partners, our projects offer young and older people the opportunity to work alongside leading artists, across all art forms, to create work that fosters understanding and breaks down barriers.
Activities are co-designed with partners so that this work grows out of current concerns, interests and issues in a particular community. Through this process, artists and participants create events, workshops, artworks and performances with the power to reach a far wider audience, shaping how we think about ageing and growing older within today’s society.
