Understanding the Lives of Older LGBTQ+ People

Join us for a free webinar delivered by Opening Doors, in partnership with Flourishing Lives, on understanding the lives of older LGBTQ+ people and supporting greater LGBTQ+ inclusion in arts & wellbeing services.

In order to create and deliver services that are inclusive and accessible to all, we must understand that some communities have been marginalised – the LGBTQ+ community are no exception.

Opening Doors invites you to join us for our free webinar “Understanding the Lives of Older LGBTQ+ People”, where we will set the scene for understanding these issues, including terminology, history, intersectionality, and what this means for service provision.

This session has been designed for arts and health professionals and will look at how some of the spaces so crucial to our wellbeing have historically engaged with the LGBTQ+ community.

This event has been organised in partnership with Flourishing Lives, and will take place as part of LGBT+ History Month.

Opening Doors is the UK’s largest charity connecting LGBTQ+ people over 50 with activities, events, support and information. They have been providing training for over 10 years and their team of specialist trainers and facilitators all contribute their lived experience as older lesbian, gay, bi and trans people. Their training is endorsed by Skills For Care and satisfies the equalities requirements of local Clinical Commissioning Groups, the Care Quality Commission and other bodies responsible for overseeing the quality of health and social care provision.
