The Bush Theatre is a world-famous home for new plays and an internationally renowned champion of playwrights. We discover, nurture and produce the best new playwrights from the widest range of backgrounds, and present our work to the highest possible standards. We look for exciting new voices that tell contemporary stories with wit, style and passion and we champion work that is both provocative and entertaining.
The Bush Theatre makes plays in one of the most culturally diverse areas in London, and we’re incredibly proud of that. We want you to feel part of our past, present and future.
This theatre is yours. There are lots of ways you can get involved.
We run a Community Reading Group throughout the year.
If you are interested in contemporary plays come and join us! You do not need any acting experience and you don’t have to be a strong reader. Our Reading Group is relaxed and informal. It’s a great way to meet new people and read plays from our exciting season of work.
The current group runs every Tuesday, 10.30am – 12pm for six weeks starting from 13 Jun. We are reading upcoming Bush production Hir as well as a selection of poems.
The group meets in the beautiful Reading Room at the Bush Theatre.
The Bush Reading Group is run in association with The Reader Association.

The Neighbourhood Project is a Community Theatre Group for people who live or work in Hammersmith & Fulham.
The group celebrates and reflects the rich culture of our area and the everyday lives of its residents. Our artists and facilitators will help you develop creative skills in a friendly, supportive and fun environment. You don’t need any performance or acting experience to take part.
Each workshop includes activities like:
- drama exercises
- creative writing
- telling stories
- creating characters
- drawing maps of our lives
In 2016 members of this group created a unique piece of theatre which they performed at BBC Television Centre with theatre company Look Left Look Right. For more information on that project, click here.
We meet once a month on a Saturday afternoon. For a list of upcoming dates and times please contact the Community Team.
